How's it going tsukiko1985? Glad you liked the vids. And to answer your question, I'm not quite sure if ur passport will work or not. You're probably going to have to go on the website and look at the specs of the HDD. Fat 32 is considered as an old format and new HDDs don't support them anymore. Yikes! Well let's see, what kind of internal HDD you using? What brand? And from what it's telling you, I think you may have to backup your 40GB since it may have a crucial update that your PS3 needs in order to complete the upgrade. I didn't know that until know, but if you don't have much to back up, you can easily use a usb flash drive or a memory stick just to back up the updates and shouldn't take you long at all... Good question xenonative, however I don't really know that much about external enclosures when it comes to upgrading your PS3. An external harddrive is necessary only if you have a lot of data that you want transferred. Now if you don't have much to save (couple of gbs), you can use a memory stick or flash drive to save all your data (that's a another way of doing the upgrade). Hope that helps buddy and good luck! i didnt buy an external hard instead i got an external enclosure. i figured that i jus format the new drive on the ps3, swap back in the old drive, put the new drive in the ext. enclosure and then do the back up. but it didnt work. like ur maxtor the ps3 didnt recognize the usb connection. is external hard absolutely neccessary! is there another option with the ext. enclosure?

Are you the type that likes to download a lot from the PSN store (trailers, videos, etc) or are you the type that only download videos every other weekend and just delete the videos once you've seen them. It's because of all the other required data in order for the PS3 to run: the OS, format, etc. Look under your current PS3 system and you'll see that the amount of GBs it has doesn't match the 60gb or 80gb. Hope that answers your question but yeah...thanks for watching buddy! V_O_R

Ouch, yeah that blue screw is one tough guy. I was on that for a good 10mins trying to not mess it up. What I did, is tried every 2mins. Because my hands would start getting sweaty (from trying to unscrew it) so unscrewing it with dry hands and a good grip, can go a long way. A screw extractor? hmmm, I don't know to tell you the truth, you just have to realize that by doing that, you do put the life of the harddrive at risk (haha), I say keep trying other ways before that one, at least...

Well...I've been trying to get that first blue screw out of the original harddrive, but I can't get it to move at all, even with pliers. Actually, I've been trying to unscrew it so much, that now the screw head is stripped. :( So basically screwdrivers aren't even working on it anymore. I was thinking about getting a screw extractor (for drills)....would you maybe suggest this, V_O_R? Do you happen to know the screw size that this blue screw is? 3MM or something like that?

Had you considered moving game saves/data over to a flash drive before you swapped out and then just reinstal game data from the discs and redownload all purchased content from the PSN store? It may seem like a lot of work, but it also saves you from having to buy a separate external hard drive and you also don't have to wait the 3+ hours for the backup utility to do its job. I'm not saying I think the latter is a better process, but I'm curious why you chose to do it via the backup utility.

WOW! 320gb...now that's space! Can't say my 60gb (may it RIP :P) had any problems, just the fact that it was too small for all the stuff that I kept saving on my harddrive. I happened to stop by a Frys and was looking around, but the only hard drives I saw had the CD drive on the top, not like the drives you showed. I did see the same "book" shaped external hard drive you used though. I also saw the other one you said not to use.

Nah just this year.I expected a little more but overall i had fun.I went on the 2nd day.Right at 3 pm i started playin GH/world tour and sang my lungs out.Everybody was singing lame i'd say but hey this only happens once a year so I was like "meh what the hell and torr the house down.

The idea the Hillary is "more qualified" is a myth; and she often lies. Hillary has not passed one major piece of legislation as a New York Senator. That is a fact, which is why she has nothing to boast about. She did Walmart's dirty work for 6 years, quietly, to get ahead. She broke Federal election laws for senate. Obama has sponsored and passed more than 400 bills into law or regulations. Moreover, community work is valuable. Her "actions" don't exist. "Just Words?" Just lies!

Yeah, vote for the woman who took money from all the insurance companies to force you to buy health insurance, and take the payment out of your bank account and fine you if you don't buy it. Search "Mena Arkansas" and try not to puke about Hillary and Bill's money laundering of Barry Seal's cocaine trafficing at Mena Airport. They used the dirty cash and the Arkansas Development Finance Authority and her Rose Law Firm to make loans to anyone who would give bill $50,000 dollars.
