Outstanding .. Headsup on the runner advancing, 1st base made a good throw, the runner came in with a legal slide and the catcher held her ground and blocked the plate well. Don't get much better.

those of you saying the catcher can drop the ball after she tags her are wrong. the runner is safe, if the catcher would have held on to the ball (which i dont blame her for dropping it cuz that hurts with braces, happened to me before) runner would have been out. and a lot of you are getting baseball rules mixed up with softball rules, so do your research or know what you are talking about before you comment. thank you :)

as a catcher you are NOW taught to leave your mask on its safer and the vision thing if you cant see everything maybe you should get a new mask (mizuno is proven to have the best vision) anyway the girl was starting to slide but her knee was up (good tag though by the catcher bad luck catching the knee and good throw by the first baseman too)

i know, i was a catcher. played for many years! i am a man, and do not know the rules for softball, but the rules in little league are that you must slide into home plate. Can someone verify that who plays softball??

As a catcher you are taught to throw your mask off so have a full view. I was in a collison with a runner once. I nearly had a concussion, but it wasn't nearly as brutal as this.

i agree with you 100% since the ball got to the catcher before the runner the runner is out regardless of the collision. The catcher after tagging her out can drop the ball

the ball made it to the plate before the runner, she made the tag for the out. However if the catcher missed the ball and or didnt catch it the runner would be safe do to obstruction on the defence. Look up Interferance and obstruction in the rule book its right there. Oh and TomBrooklyn dont get baseball rules and solfball rules mixed up.
