Wow, I just saw that I never replied to you. Anyway, I'm not sure where you can buy them. I saw many of them in Japan, specifically in Kyoto. They have a lot of traditional instruments there. Unfortunately, the only internet sites I've seen where you can purchase a shinobue are in Japanese and/or only ship in Japan. Sorry I don't have a better answer than that!

You should definitely get one! It's just too bad I can't play it very well...I've never really heard someone play it well before. Do you have any sites you can recommend so I can actually hear some songs to try to play? I think that might help...right now I just BS.

You're certainly welcome, sorry it took so long to post it. I tried to edit out the crappy part but every time I rendered it the audio was messed up. I have pretty good luck picking up the flutes individually but moving from one to the other is difficult for me.
